Contest for paper ownershipContest for paper ownership
Monday, 13th March 2006

A management buy-out and three publishing companies are believed to be bidding for one of the country's oldest newspapers, the Impartial Reporter which has its offices in East Bridge Street in Enniskillen. Founded in 1825 by William Trimble, the family connection continues to this day with the managing director Joanna McVey. The three involved in the management buy-out bid are believed to be managing editor Denzil McDaniel and two former employees, Fearghal McKinney and Trevor Birney. Bidding against the trio are John Taylor's Alpha Newspapers Group, Dunfermline Press and Johnston Press.
