Natural power sources for Monea manNatural power sources for Monea man
Monday, 26th September 2005

Richard Ireson, who lives at Monea, near Enniskillen, has few worries about rising fuel costs since he is among a small group of people in the county who are using alternative sources of energy. His house may be one hundred and fifty years old but it has its own photovoltaic system which generates up to £100 worth of electricity each year; this means that the Iresons can generate enough electricity to meet all their needs and it is an added bonus that the system depends on light rather than sunlight. Also helping to supply power is a wind turbine on top of an eighteen-metre tower, on which the solar panels are also mounted.
