Reprieve for two police stationsReprieve for two police stations
Wednesday, 31st August 2005

While six police stations in the county are due to be closed, two have been saved after a consultation process with local residents; the two stations to continue in service are in Newtownbutler and Irivinestown. At a meeting of the Northern Ireland Policing Board in July to discuss the closure of eight bases the district commander, Superintendent Clifford Best, was asked to undertake further talks with the local communities as to their view of police coverage in the county. This led to the reprieve for the two stations but the fate of six others, at Ballinamallard, Derrygonnelly, Kinawley, Lisbellaw, Rosslea and Tempo will be discussed next month.
