Joint church service marks Clonmaulin reunionJoint church service marks Clonmaulin reunion
Monday, 15th August 2005

A joint church service was held recently as part of a reunion of past pupils of Clonmaulin School, Newtownbutler, which opened in a one-roomed building in 1880 with ninety-four pupils. Among those at the reunion was Dympna O'Doherty, whose father, Thomas, was the first principal of the school. Her mother Jane was also a teacher in Clonmaulin and Dympna herself taught in Beragh parish. The school, which closed in 1970, has been memorialised in a book edited by Bernie Maguire, "Clonmaulin, a Place, a School and its People", that was launched during the reunion.
