From mortar board to mission
Monday, 11th July 2005

Ballycassidy man Declan Quinn, who graduated with a degree in medicine from Queen's University Belfast earlier this week, is now on his way to Malawi in the company of three colleagues for a stay of three and a half weeks. The twenty-three-year-old former student of St Michael's College has already spent seven weeks in the stricken country and was so affected that he decided to return after qualifying as a doctor. With the help of a number of people and, in particular, businesses in Irvinestown, Declan has raised £4,200 and his three companions have raised £9,000, all of which will help to provide food and medical assistance in Malawi.
