Foreign visitor arrives on cueForeign visitor arrives on cue
Monday, 14th March 2005

Just before a gathering of birdwatchers under the auspices of the Royal Society of the Protection of Birds at the Killyhevlin Hotel in Enniskillen, a rarer visitor was sighted near Crom. The North American wader known as the kildeer was first recorded in the last week of February by the head warden, John Sey, during the monthly wildfowl and wader count, the news soon spread through the "twitchers'" world and visitors began to arrive from all over Ireland, armed with cameras and binoculars. The unusual visitor has settled for the moment on the shore in the townland of Ports.
