Funding for FermanaghFunding for Fermanagh's first Bunscoil
Monday, 11th October 2004

Bunscoil an Traoinaigh in Lisnaskea has been granted funding by the Department of Education and has just taken in its first pupils to Primary One. Called after the corncrake, a bird often heard in Fermanagh in years gone by, the school is the first Irish language primary school to be opened in the county. The school is housed in temporary buildings at the local GAA club, where an Irish language nursery school was opened three years ago, and the fourteen pupils attending the naiscoil will be moving into the primary school next year. Funding is available for a second bunscoil in Enniskillen when viability has been assured.
