Give Hope this Christmas with OxfamGive Hope this Christmas with Oxfam
Friday, 19th December 2003

For an alternative gift this Christmas why not give your friends and family a Gift of Hope from Oxfam? This innovative Christmas gift from Oxfam Ireland can change the lives of some of the world's poorest people as you wish your family and friends a happy Christmas.

The idea behind the Gift of Hope is that you make a donation to Oxfam for whatever amount you wish over £5 and we will give you a beautifully designed gift card. The card will show details of how your contribution will help poor people in the areas where Oxfam Ireland works in the Developing World. It can then be sent to family and friends to show how they have helped make a difference to the lives of some of the world's poorest people.

As an added bonus part of the card is detachable and can be used as a bookmark all year as a reminder of your Christmas gift. Cards can be purchased from any of Oxfam's forty shops around the country or from our office at 52-54 Dublin Road, Belfast BT2 7HN.

Oxfam believes that in a world rich in resources, poverty is not a fact of life but an injustice that must be overcome. We believe that everyone is entitled to a life of dignity and opportunity; we work with poor people to make this a reality.

For the price of a box of chocolates, we could provide seeds and tools to farmers in Zambia, enabling them to feed their family for a year.

For the price of 2 bottles of wine we could supply a school desk and chairs for 2 children in Tanzania and the education they receive would enable them to live a life free of poverty.
