Wales - 15
Ireland - 17

Simply unbelievable ! Ireland have bridged a 61 year gap by winning in Cardiff this evening, and with it The Triple Crown, The Championship and above all, The Grand Slam !

Ireland went in 6-0 down at half time after a very cautious first half but came out all guns blazing after the break. Two quick fire tries from man of the match Brian O Driscoll and Tommy Bowe left Ireland 14-6 ahead. Wales clawed their way back however with Ireland getting more and more nervous, 14-9, then 14-12 and then horror of horrors, a drop goal by Stephen Jones with 4 minutes remaining to put Wales ahead.

But cometh the hour, cometh the man, up stepped Ronan O Gara with a very well taken drop goal under intense pressure and 90 seconds remaining. Surely that was it.... no, there was more drama to come. Paddy Wallace gave away a penalty just inside the Irish half... last kick of the game, a penalty to Wales to break thumping Irish hearts... and unbelievably it was missed, the ball just falling a few yards short.

Pandemonium, delirium, celebrating, hugging, interviews, trophies, more interviews... quite simply brilliant. One of the best afternoons for Irish rugby... ever.
