Ireland Struggle and Make Changes
Monday, 17th September 2007

There is nothing positive to say about the Irish performance on Saturday. Ireland were quite simply awful in just about winning 14-10 against Georgia, a team ranked way below us at 17 in the world and a team that had 11 changes from their opening match. It was all put into context by France's 87-10 win over Namibia last night. That's all we need, a French team scoring for fun playing in front of their own crowd in Paris.

Changes were made when the team was announced today, Stringer has been dropped for Reddan, an interesting choice given that Boss has been the sub scrumhalf up to now. Hickey and Best have been replaced by Trimble and Flannery due to injury. And somewhat surprisingly, Geordan Murphy is dropped from the bench, replaced by Duffy.

Personally, I would be quite happy with all of these changes, anything has to be worth a try at this stage. Roll on Les Bleus on Friday !
