DFS SUMMER: "Hollywood hits Meath"DFS SUMMER: "Hollywood hits Meath"
Monday, 24th July 2006

The Digital Film School is proud to announce its summer batch of film courses for teenagers (aged 12-18). This summer the school is running film courses around north county Dublin and in Meath.

Course locations include; Swords from July 24th-28th, Ashbourne from July 31st-August 4th, Dunshaughlin from August 14th-18th and Navan from August 14th-18th.

Courses run for 5 days and participants are taught the full mechanics of a working film set whist writing, producing and directing their own short film in the process. Students will use High definition (HDV) cameras this year. The course is designed in a fun and dynamic manner, involving lots of group work and workshops in areas such as; cinematography, sound design, screenwriting, direction and editing.

Speaking at the launch of the Summer course dates in Dublin, company director Julianne Forde explained that “the aim of the course is to demystify the craft of film production and challenge you to master the art of visual storytelling. The classes are fun and each student gets a flavour of the different departments integral to the filmmaking process.”

Upon completion of the course each student is presented with a fully edited DVD of their work. It is planned that the films will be launched officially on the Digital Film School website in the autumn, whilst also being entered in a number of prestigious international youth film festivals.

Courses cost €250 including all equipment and materials. Places are limited to 10 per class to ensure maximum participation for each student.
