Navan Film FestivalNavan Film Festival
Tuesday, 15th August 2006

15th - 16th August, 2006

The Navan Film Festival has been restructured to offer its audience greater satisfaction in year two.

The Festival Team have decided to run a marathon of independent movies over a 24 hour period instead of the three day festival advertised in January.

“Quality is a big issue for me this year” says Programme Manager Brian Matthews. “We have been very selective and the result has been a shorter but ultimately stronger programme”.

Potential highlights include the screening of Science Fiction Thriller Into the Maelstrom from the United-States, Fantasy Adventure The Four Horsemen staring Ruth Negga and the Controversial Documentary The Man Who Blew up Nelsons Pillar by Tony Brown.

Local Filmmakers have contributed to this year’s festival too. Psychological Thriller Portrait features actor Gerry Shanahan from Navan and an exceptional short Nowhere Man was directed student Paul Webster from Navan.

The festival kicks off with a champagne reception at the Diamond Cinema Navan, Kennedy Road, Navan, Co Meath on the night of the 15th at 11:30pm followed by the first screening at midnight.

The Navan Film Festival is supported by Excel Print, Clarke’s Sports Den, The Newgrange Hotel, Abfab Video Productions, Silicon Valley Internet Café and Solstice Arts Centre.
